"Hello Joel,
You'll first want to change the custom url associated with www back to
the default value. Most likely the custom url for Web Pages is where
www is set. Login into the Control Panel, click on Web Pages then
change URL. If www is set there, click on the default radio button and
Save Changes.
Next change the CNAME of www so that it points to @ rather than
ghs.google.com.
Set up a Forward (GoDaddy - their Domain Control Page) or 'url
redirect' (eNom). You will be Forwarding http://mydomain.com to
http://sites.google.com/a/mydomain.com/sitename/Home. The easiest way
to see the right url is to log into the site of interest. After
completing this step, http://mydomain.com and http://www.mydomain.com
will both go to the page http://sites.google.com/a/mydomain.com/sitename/Home
and this url will show in the browser address window. By using
Masking (GoDaddy) or 'URL Frame' instead of 'url redirect', the url
will always show http://mydomain.com in the Browser address no matter
what page of the site you are viewing.
After making these changes, WAIT up to 48 hours for all necessary
servers to be updated world wide.
If this forward does not work and you end up going to the Start Page
instead, you will need to remove the 3 A records pointing to Google
servers (These will typically have the following IP addresses in the
record: 64.233.179.121, 66.249.81.121, and 72.14.207.121)
If you have GoDaddy and you purchased your domain name from Google,
add the following A record:@ pointing to 64.202.189.170 with a 1 hour
TTL.
Again WAIT for up to 48 hours.
